Study concepts and proposals should be submitted to Collegium through this online submission portal. The portal will also allow you to track the progress of your existing submission, and report on any of your approved ongoing studies.

The Investigator-Initiated Study (IIS) Grant program at Collegium supports original research conducted by non-Collegium physicians and researchers in predetermined therapeutic areas.

The goal of each IIS is to further research related to Collegium’s current and future therapeutic areas of interest.

Therapeutic areas of interest include:
  • Assessing the impact of Xtampza ER on: 
    • Misuse, abuse, and diversion
    • Impact on various trajectories to addiction
    • Rates of overdose
  • Research establishing the cost-effectiveness of Xtampza ER 
    • Assessment of potential societal impact of Xtampza ER 
  • Using Xtampza ER in patients who have had gastric bypass surgery 
  • Using tapentadol in managing pain conditions, for which an opioid is indicated, that might benefit from a dual mechanism of action.  
  • Research differentiating the safety profile of tapentadol from other opioids
  • Research differentiating the abuse profile of tapentadol from other opioids
  • Researching the cost-effectiveness of tapentadol compared to other treatment options
    • Assessment of potential societal impact of tapentadol
  • Assessing the impact of Abuse Deterrent Technology on:
    • Misuse, abuse, and diversion
    • Impact on various trajectories to addiction
    • Rates of overdose
  • Researching the cost-effectiveness of Abuse Deterrent Formulations: 
    • Assessing the potential societal impact of abuse deterrent formulations
  • Studying responsible dosing strategies for prescription opioids, including the use of dose titration or tapering as clinically warranted
